Lifting Systems has installed a 15t overhead gantry crane at Burnetts Manufacturing’s site in Northampton, England.
Burnetts Manufacturing, which operates in the rubber, plastic and silicone injection moulding sector, supplies components to 64 locations worldwide and produces over 50 million units annually.
The new equipment is intended to support heavier mould tools and enhance material handling within the facility.
The installation responds to increased production demands at the client’s location, whose existing lifting systems could not accommodate the greater scale and weight of tooling required for its expanded manufacturing schedule.
By integrating the overhead crane into the company’s current infrastructure, operators now have improved capacity for moving large injection moulding tools, dies and material loads throughout the production process.
This development is expected to reduce downtime during changeovers and increase accuracy in handling.
Lifting Systems delivered the project by conducting a structural assessment, designing and manufacturing the crane, carrying out on-site installation, testing and commissioning, and providing operator guidance.
The company ensured that all procedures adhered to UK safety and compliance requirements.
The addition will allow the client to raise operational efficiency, improve safety when handling heavy equipment, and reduce manual intervention.
The choice of an overhead gantry crane offers high lifting capacity even within restricted spaces, provides smooth movement across work areas, supports long-term use under demanding conditions, and can be customised for specific workflow requirements.
Burnetts Manufacturing’s adoption of the system represents part of its strategy to scale output and maintain supply to its international client base.
Lifting Systems, established in 1994, supplies safety-certified lifting equipment and gantry crane solutions to clients across the UK.
The company delivers lifting systems designed for a range of industrial applications, providing equipment that aligns with various operational requirements.
In August last year, Lifting Systems upgraded the overhead cranes at Burnetts, increasing lifting capacity from 5t to 7.5t.
The work included the replacement of track beams and columns, as well as the design of a pedestal-mounted overhead crane.
