Konecranes has completed a retrofit upgrade on two overhead cranes for an undisclosed client in the UK.

The project involved installing MasterPro units with wireless remote monitoring and introducing brake monitoring units to existing Konecranes overhead cranes in the UK for the first time.

The new technology allows users to monitor crane and brake conditions remotely, supporting timely maintenance planning and reducing unexpected downtime.

This system enables both the customer and Konecranes to assess equipment usage, predict maintenance requirements more accurately, and address issues before equipment failure occurs.

The modernisation works form part of Konecranes’ broader service offering to enhance reliability and safety in crane operations by updating existing machinery with advanced components.

The company’s modernisations team undertakes various upgrades, providing customers with options ranging from targeted component improvements to comprehensive overhauls.

Konecranes project engineer Mohammed Naseer Hussain said: “Excellent work done by the team and the first retrofit of the brake monitoring units in the UK.”

Konecranes operates internationally as a provider of material handling solutions, serving clients across diverse sectors.

The company employs approximately 16,500 people in more than 50 countries.

Recently, Konecranes launched its X-series crane and S-series low headroom hoist in Australia at an event held at its Smithfield facility.

The launch marked the latest stage in a global rollout following the introduction of these products in EMEA and other regions.

In November last year, Konecranes installed a 3.2t X-series overhead crane at Volvo Hungária’s new facility.

The crane, spanning 6.6m to fit the site’s layout, was equipped with a Konecranes S-series hoist.
