UK-based company GGR Group has completed the installation of hoist motors onto overhead cranes at a university.

Details about the university remain undisclosed.

The company carried out the process using its TMC 25 Electric Articulated Crawler Crane.

The model was selected after evaluating the requirements for an indoor lift in a confined area.

The lifting challenge involved moving 250kg hoist motors via a gap measuring 1.6m and placing them onto an overhead crane at a height of 6.5m, while avoiding contact with the ceiling located at 7.5m.

For the project, GGR Group carried out a site survey, prepared a detailed lift plan, and conducted a risk assessment before bringing the battery-powered crane to the location.

The TMC 25 provides a lifting capacity of up to 2.5t at 1.5m. Its compact design and lithium-ion battery operation enabled use in restricted space without producing emissions or particulates, maintaining air quality within the university building, said the company.

The operator positioned the crane in the tight lift area using foldable hydraulic legs, ensuring access to the necessary location without compromising lifting capacity.

The TMC 25 features continuous 360° rotation and an articulated boom operated via radio remote control, which allowed precise movement and placement of the hoist motors while avoiding contact with surrounding structures, explained GGR Group.

Throughout the operation, radio remote control offered clear visibility of the load and reduced blind spots, enabling accurate manoeuvring of equipment through limited space.

The crane’s capabilities minimised repositioning during the task.

Upon completion of the lift, GGR Group confirmed that all safety and operational requirements for the project were met.

GGR Group was founded in 1995 and is now an international provider of lifting solutions.

The company operates a range of brands and supplies specialist lifting equipment for sale and hire across the UK.

GGR Group supports these services with a technical team, maintenance department, and accredited training centres throughout the country.

Additionally, the company delivers a complete contract lift service for specialist projects.
