Mona Lifting has installed an electric overhead travelling crane at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva.
The company undertook the project by handling the design, production, and commissioning of specialist lifting machinery that addressed CERN’s specific technical and safety standards.
The equipment features a tailored control system with variable speed functionality, travel limit mechanisms, forced ventilation, and several operational safety measures to support work in sensitive research environments.
The company said: “This project involved the design, manufacture and commissioning of specialist lifting equipment tailored to the strict technical and safety requirements of one of the world’s leading scientific research facilities.
“The crane incorporates a bespoke control system with variable speed drives, travel limit switches, forced ventilation, and advanced safety features to ensure reliable operation within a highly sensitive environment.
“Working with organisations at the forefront of global science demonstrates the capability of our team to deliver high-spec engineering solutions for complex and safety-critical environments.”
Mona Lifting operates out of North Wales, offering engineering services that include lifting solutions, cranes, bespoke machinery fabrication, and industrial blast cleaning and coatings.
Founded in 2005 as part of Mona Group, the company serves clients across the UK in sectors, including nuclear energy, renewables, infrastructure, marine operations, transportation, manufacturing, and water treatment.
The organisation manages all stages from initial design through to installation and commissioning.
Mona Lifting has established delivery partnerships across multiple industries and continues to provide ongoing support for its engineered products.
