UK-based manufacturer Winder Power has confirmed the installation of a 120t overhead gantry crane at its facility as part of an upgrade programme.
The new equipment, supplied by E&C Crane Engineering based in England, is intended to enhance the company’s ability to manufacture 132kV transformers.
The addition of the new gantry crane will improve handling capability and support production processes at the site, stated Winder Power.
The company noted that the investment aligns with its ongoing manufacturing operations in the UK.
The company said: “Our new 120 tonne overhead gantry crane has arrived and is being installed as part of our factory upgrade.
“This investment strengthens our capability to manufacture 132kV transformers efficiently and safely, supporting our commitment to UK manufacturing excellence.”
Additionally, Winder Power managing director Paul Matthews and operations director Simon McCloud jointly reviewed the progress of the facility’s capacity expansion and development of the 132kV transformer production line after the installation of the crane.
Winder Power manufactures distribution, power and grid transformers, as well as generator equipment, at its facility in Leeds.
The company designs, produces, delivers and manages transformers up to 132kV at 120MVA capacity in-house, and works with manufacturing partners for projects up to 400kV.
The company’s customers include organisations in the utilities, renewable energy and industrial sectors both in the UK and overseas.
