Poland-based Protea has completed the mechanical installation of two overhead travelling cranes at Dragados Offshore shipyard in Cádiz, Spain.
The two systems are 10t single girder overhead travelling cranes.
Protea supplies different types of industrial overhead cranes. These include bridge cranes, jib cranes, under-slung cranes, gantry cranes, and semi-gantry cranes.
The cranes are available in different options that include single or double girder designs, hydraulic, electric or manual drive systems, several control options, explosion protection measures and solutions for challenging environments.
The modular structure supports straightforward transport and assembly, said the company.
The recent installation marks a step towards the final integration of these cranes on the Offshore Substation (OSS) for the DolWin4 project.
Prior to mechanical installation, Protea marked another milestone by carrying out the factory acceptance test of both the cranes at its testing facility.
The company said: “The installation required precise coordination and engineering expertise, and we are proud of our team and partners for delivering this phase smoothly. A big thank you to Dragados Offshore for the continued trust in Protea.”
Dragados Offshore, in consortium with Siemens Energy, is developing the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platform for DolWin4 and BorWin4 HVDC grid connection projects for Amprion Offshore.
The contract involves Dragados handling design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the platform, which will transfer power generated by offshore wind farms to the German grid.
