A crane scale now includes a rechargeable battery and LED backlit display as standard. The MSI-4300 Porta-Weigh Plus Electronic Crane Scale from US-based Measurement Systems International comes in nine standard capacities from 500 lb (450kg) to 100,000 lb (45t). The 12-volt sealed lead acid battery is claimed to provide 300 hours of operation between charges. The six-digit 1.6in- (40mm) high display can be read from a distance. Options include NTEP-approved versions, infrared remote control, different power options – alkaline batteries or universal direct supply – oversized top/bottom fittings, low headroom adapters, RS-232 and relay outputs for connecting to a computer.
