RGM Cranes has announced the acquisition of Crane Fab, an overhead crane fabricator headquartered in South Africa.
Crane Fab, led by Eric Moll and Robert Craig, has operated in the sector since its establishment in 1996.
The acquisition brings together the expertise of RGM Cranes’ senior management team, who collectively have over 600 years of experience, and Crane Fab’s specialisation in girder fabrication.
According to RGM Cranes, the move is intended to give the business greater control over quality, increase manufacturing capacity, and enhance the delivery of overhead crane solutions.
Crane Fab specialises in custom metalwork, delivering everything from small, creative builds to large-scale structural fabrication projects.
The company describes its approach as merging technical skill with design to serve a variety of customers.
Its operational history spans more than two decades, during which it has developed processes for girder and structural fabrication.
RGM Cranes CEO and chairman Alex Dowling said: “Another significant milestone for RGM Cranes.

RGM Cranes, founded as RG Maintenance Services in Boksburg in 1988, has grown to become a manufacturer of overhead cranes in South Africa.
The firm’s activities now include crane manufacturing, servicing, modernisation, and providing comprehensive lifting solutions across Southern Africa.
The company reports compliance with ISO 9001 certification and SANS standards.
The integration of Crane Fab’s team and knowledge base is expected to complement RGM Cranes’ existing engineering and technical capabilities.
In July 2026, RGM Cranes supplied three overhead cranes to iCONiCCO as part of the company’s facility expansion in Wellington, Western Cape, through its Cape Town branch.
The equipment delivered consisted of two dual-hoist single-girder cranes, each with a 5t lifting capacity (2 x 2.5t) and a span of 19m, as well as a single-girder 5t crane with a 6.5m span.
