UK-based Glacier Energy has expanded its Newcastle facility with the installation of a 10t overhead crane, adding to an existing 5t unit on site.
The upgrade aims to increase the firm’s capacity to manage the manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment of heat exchangers at the location.
Alongside overhead lifting, the Newcastle site is equipped with ultrasonic, chemical and diesel particulate filter cleaning services, as well as machining and inspection capabilities.
The company said: “We’re pleased to share the successful installation of our new 10t overhead crane at our Newcastle facility.
“This investment strengthens our capacity to deliver a wide range of heat exchanger manufacturing, repair and refurbishment scopes in Newcastle and ensures we are well equipped to meet growing project demands.”
Established in 2011 with the acquisitions of Roberts Pipeline Machining and Wellclad, Glacier Energy has developed into a supplier of specialist products, services and engineered solutions for both renewable and conventional energy sectors.
Roberts Pipeline Machining previously provided portable on-site cutting machines for oil and gas operators, while Wellclad focused on weld overlay and cladding for offshore subsea equipment.
These acquisitions enabled further investment and expansion, shaping the company’s presence in engineering services for global energy markets.
The company reports a history of organic growth and further mergers as part of its business strategy.
It continues to focus on supporting the energy sector’s operational requirements and broader net-zero commitments.
The combined experience of the Glacier Energy group spans more than 150 years, contributing to its operations in both the UK and international markets.
