UK-based Red Rooster Lifting has installed a 2t underslung overhead crane at an industrial workshop, increasing lifting capacity and improving workflow.
The new equipment was commissioned to meet higher production demands following the company’s move into larger premises.
Previously, a single overhead crane managed all lifting operations, which led to bottlenecks when multiple lifts were required at the same time.
The client operates in the service and assembly of specialist industrial components, including valves and pumps.
The growing workload made it clear that an additional lifting provision was needed to maintain efficient throughput and support simultaneous handling tasks.
The installed crane features a 23m span for extended workspace coverage and a low headroom wire rope hoist to maximise available lifting height within the building structure.
It includes dual-speed hoisting for precise load positioning and variable speed cross and long travel motions for smooth operation.
Control is provided by radio operation with a backup pendant system, while power distribution uses a four-bar conductor rail.
The electrical system meets IP54 standards suitable for industrial environments.
Installation and commissioning were carried out in an active workshop environment.
Mechanical work involved landing the new crane bridge on runway rails, assembling the hoist and end carriages, and fitting the conductor rail power supply.
Electrical connection, integration of controls, functional testing, and load testing with calibrated weights followed.
The process included issuing industry-required test certification after thorough examination.
Close coordination between installers and site staff ensured that daily operations continued safely throughout the four-day installation period.
The addition of this second overhead crane has eliminated previous workflow delays, provided greater operational flexibility, and allowed multiple lifts to be performed simultaneously.
The supplier provided certification, documentation, and compliance with relevant safety standards as part of its overhead crane installation services delivered for engineering and manufacturing clients across the UK.
In December 2025, Red Rooster Lifting completed the installation of a 7m NIKO swing jib crane at a hydraulic facility. The new system featured a Kito Crosby EQ electric chain hoist with a 500kg lifting capacity.
