IAEA report highlights Asian nuclear boom

Increased demand for crane and support contracts is expected across Asia due to nuclear expansion cited in a recent International Atomic Energy Agency report.

The report says 41 reactors are under construction across the region with nearly 100 planned over the next decade, with a further 221 proposed.

Malaysia has completed preliminary site selection, ranking and feasibility studies for 2GW?of nuclear power plants, due to be confirmed by 2014.

China is currently constructing over 20 plants and Indonesia aims to build up to four power stations by 2025.

Vietnam intends to build eight plants by 2030, while South Korea has six units under construction and 10 in planning.
