Winkle Industries has unveiled the expansion at its Ohio base, following increasing production since the plant was built in 2003.

The 15,000 sq ft expansion of Winkle’s 75,000 sq ft site is designed to support continuing growth of the firm’s product range and services. The extended site included the addition of warehouse space, as well as a detached mobile equipment garage.
In recent years, Winkle has been diversifying its product range and services to serve customers in the steel, recycling and mill-related industries. The firm has been working to increase the level of aftermarket support and mobile equipment services, in addition to its traditional engineering and manufacturing operations.
Joe Schatz, Winkle Industries’ president, says that these changes have come about following customer requests for ‘single-source’ relationships for material handling products and services. He says: “We have taken on contractual obligations to stock larger inventories of assemblies and renewal parts in order to strengthen the ongoing partnerships we have our customers.
“This expansion is largely dedicated to increase our inventory capacity, while freeing up more space for production requirements. We appreciate and support the need for up-time and parts availability and we will continue to meet out customers’ expectations.”
The existing facility in Alliance, Ohio, built in 2003 houses administrative and engineering offices, as well as a manufacturing and storage area. The expansion of the plant is set to include new centres for machining, fabrication and assembly.
