Columbus McKinnon is launching a 1,100 lb (500 kg) lever hoist in its Mini Hoist range in May. The hoist, double the 550 lb lifting capacity of the current model, will weigh a total of 7 lb (a pound and a half heavier than the existing model). Made in China, the hoist uses grade 10 chain manufactured by German chain forging company RUD Kettenfabrik. Thousands of the 1/4 US ton model have been sold since it was launched two years ago, according to Columbus McKinnon industrial products marketing manager Rob Beightol.
