Norwegian crane and hoist manufacturer Munck has moved to a new facility. The 18,000 sq m facility, which includes 4000 sq m of manufacturing space, can produce 2,000 cranes a year. Munck expects to produce about 750 cranes this year, an improvement on 700 last year, according to Rune Vabo of Munck.
In the new factory, in an industrial area near the airport in Bergen, Norway, Munck manufactures hoists, end trucks, wheels, trolleys, electrical equipment and control systems. It buys motors complete from a supplier.
It does not manufacture steel girders centrally, but delegates that job to local partners. Except, that is, for the company’s own local markets. Although Munck sells cranes to Scandinavian countries from its Bergen headquarters, it buys crane girders from Batrans in Lithuania.
