The park officially opened in October 2003 and it was at the end of the following year that Kuenz decided to build a completely new production site on a green field within the facility.
The site is designed to produce Kuenz components for container cranes as well as hydraulic steel structures for the hydro power industry. At this stage, output will be around 2,000t a year.
Marketing manager Michael Geiger told Hoist: “Kuenz has been growing over the past 10 years by means of increased outsourcing. Now, we are at a point where further growth requires new production capacities.”
He added: “We opted for Kechnec because the region offers excellent conditions in terms of labour market, infrastructure and taxes.” Furthermore, he said, we expect a rising demand for our products in the new member states of the EU.
The investment will create some 100 new jobs by the end of next year. The unit has been designed in such a way that further expansion is possible if needed.
