Kuangshan Crane has provided two CE-certified single-girder overhead cranes to a Croatian metal fabrication company, completing delivery, installation, and commissioning within a 16-day timeframe.
The project addressed specific operational needs, including restricted vertical clearance in the existing workshop and the requirement to maintain high productivity across three production shifts.
The Croatian client, active in metal plate processing and manufacturing structural components, required additional crane capacity to support business expansion.
The workshop, already equipped with double-girder overhead cranes from European brands such as Demag and Abus, needed the new cranes to match existing technical and quality standards.
The client specified one 5t and one 10t single-girder overhead crane, both compliant with FEM standards, featuring pendant and wireless remote controls, and utilising a 380V/50Hz/3PH power supply.
One significant challenge involved a 1,100mm clearance limit above the existing rail, restricting the installation of standard overhead crane models whose heights exceeded this space.
Kuangshan Crane addressed the issue by modifying the main beam structure and partially embedding it into the end carriage to lower the overall height.
This modification enabled installation without altering the workshop layout or affecting overhead pipelines.
The company matched each crane’s dimensions to the customer’s workshop drawings and cross-checked all parameters, including span and rail specifications, allowing installation on the current infrastructure.
Speed adaptation was another focus, due to the high-frequency and high-density operations in the facility.
Upon customer request, on-site technical staff increased the travelling speed of the cranes to 30m/min, their upper limit, which improved material flow efficiency within the workshop.
Following delivery at Port Rijeka, Kuangshan Crane sent an engineer to carry out on-site assembly and system checks.
The installation, completed ahead of schedule, included training for workshop operators and maintenance staff on safe operation, daily inspections, and troubleshooting.
The new cranes are now operating alongside existing equipment from Demag and Abus.
According to the company, the client has expressed interest in further expanding crane capacity, with plans to order additional units for a new facility in 2026.
The project confirms the cranes’ compliance with EU standards and demonstrates continued cooperation between the two companies.
