Siemens Power Generation (SpA) is building a turnkey combined cycle power plant in Livorno-Ferraris in northern Italy for Milan-based EON Italia Produzione SpA, a subsidiary of EON Kraftwerke GmbH. Plant commissioning is scheduled for 2007.
With a capacity of 800 megawatts (MW), the plant will be able to meet the entire electricity needs of Milan’s 1.2 million inhabitants in, according to a Konecranes press release, “an economical and environmentally compatible manner.”
The order is for a 130t SMD spacemaker double girder model with a 12m span, which will be fitted with a 25t main auxiliary hoist and a further 12.5t out reach auxiliary hoist running under a main girder for access to items outside the main runway area.
On the same runway there will also be a 20t CXTD double girder crane. The order also includes a 1.6t explosion proof crane, which will also be supplied along with a number of other CXT smaller cranes to carry out various support functions.
The 130t crane will have DynAHoist inverters on each hoist motion and DynAC inverters on the travel and traverse motions. The 130t and 25t auxiliary hoists will both have true vertical lift and a special hook block on the 25t hoist for lifting turbine rotors.
Delivery is scheduled for February 2007 and the contract is valued at approximately Euros 850,000.
