Hoist UK has designed and produced a custom portable gantry system intended for use in hygienic environments.

The company, which manufactures lifting and handling systems, created the equipment in-house to address specific handling and environmental needs for one of its customers.

The portable gantry features an adjustable-height design, which allows operators to lower the system and move it safely through doorways.

Once relocated, the gantry can then be returned to its maximum height for operation.

According to Hoist UK, this design flexibility enables the system to be used across multiple rooms without compromising lifting capability.

A central component of the system is a specially designed electric belt hoist, housed within a stainless steel 316 enclosure for use in hygienic conditions.

The solution includes a double-girder raised bridge construction to increase lifting height, anodised aluminium track profiles and leg assemblies, and offers a maximum capacity of 250kg with a 3m span.

The height of the system can be varied between 2.4m and 2.9m via crank handles located on either side, allowing controlled and easy adjustment.

Additionally, the gantry supports variable speed hoisting and movement along the bridge beam to support precise handling needs.

The company said: “Every application is different, which is why we work closely with our customers to develop bespoke lifting solutions when standard equipment isn’t suitable.

“From cleanrooms and hygienic production facilities to specialist manufacturing environments, our in-house design and fabrication teams can deliver lifting systems tailored to the application.”

The company began operations in 2006 under the direction of Tony Dickson and Paul Jordan, initially acting as a distributor for the French brand Verlinde in the UK.

Hoist UK now provides design, manufacturing, and installation of a wide range of lifting and handling equipment, including overhead cranes, electric chain hoists, performer winches, and shackles. Its client base spans the UK and international markets.

Earlier this month, Hoist UK supplied and installed a freestanding jib crane at a client’s facility, aiming to improve safety and efficiency in manual handling tasks.
