The Hilliard Group has launched a brake with only one moving part. The MK750, MK1400 and MK4800 provide maximum braking forces from 725 kgf (1,600 lbf) to 3266 kgf (7,200 lbf) against either a rail or brake disc. The brake, designed for holding duty and emergency stopping, incorporates an electromagnetic coil that uses a voltage-dropping circuit to minimise current draw and heat when the brake is released. Although a microswitch monitors brake status, a manual release mechanism allows the brakes to be released momentarily with the twist of a wrench. This manual release mechanism automatically reapplies the brake when force is removed.
