UK-based lifting equipment and crane manufacturer Harold Potter has installed four new 5t single-girder overhead gantry cranes at WH Davis’s site in Derbyshire, England.
The cranes were set up to increase lifting height through a customised solution involving stooling.
Each crane features remote controls, anti-collision technology, slow-down mechanisms at the ends of the gantries, and load monitoring systems that display the weight being lifted and alert operators if maximum limits are exceeded.
The installation follows the completion of design and manufacturing work handled by Harold Potter’s team.
The company said: “Our team have done a great job from the design & manufacturing through to the upgrades and installation.”
WH Davis, established in 1908, operates as the UK’s last independent rail wagon manufacturer with its facilities located near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
In addition to rail wagons, WH Davis also undertakes the production of containers and industrial trailers.

Earlier this month, Harold Potter supplied a 30m span, 12.5t goliath crane to JRL Trent Precast in Skelmersdale, England. WS Transportation handled the delivery.
The firm managed both delivery and installation as part of its recurring provision of overhead cranes, including goliath and semi-goliath types.
