The company has fired some 40 employees in Sweden, and hired about that number in Poland, according to marketing manager Johan Lilja.
The facility, set up a few years ago to make nails, will now make products across several product ranges.
“It is important to be cost-effective even though we have a profitable business,” Lilja said.
“If you look at the blue collar work force, and compare Sweden to Poland, if there is an index of 100 in labour costs in Sweden, in Poland it is index 20, and in China it is index five, Lilja said. “The big gain is the 80 steps that we do in moving to Poland. And there are advantages of keeping close to the production site.”
The company also produces lifting products in Norway, Sweden and South Africa.
