Geodis has entered into a cooperation agreement with Dolfines to develop and market a port-based version of a high-capacity lifting device for floating offshore wind projects.

The agreement, which spans ten years, grants Geodis exclusive marketing rights for the Mobile XXL OHME system across various strategic European markets.

Dolfines, an engineering firm specialising in energy industry solutions, will retain intellectual property rights and patents for the technology.

Through its subsidiary Sealogis, Geodis will assist Dolfines in adapting and industrialising the “Mobile XXL” version of the Offshore Heavy Maintenance Enabler (OHME) lifting system.

This system is designed to handle offshore wind components weighing between 800 and 1,000 tons, catering to the logistical demands of next-generation power generation projects ranging from 15 to 20MW. The technology offers a flexible alternative to the ring cranes currently used in the industry.

Geodis project logistics offshore wind solution global manager Nicolas Bonnier said: “Geodis supports offshore wind players with a comprehensive offering which encompasses engineering, logistics, and specialised transport.

“In a context marked by the complexity of assembly operations and a scarcity of suitable equipment, we identified the potential of the OHME Port tool developed by Dolfines.

“It offers a viable, scalable, and sustainable solution to meet the logistical challenges of the new generation of wind turbines. Our engineering teams are already working on the design of this Mobile XXL version.”

The partnership aligns with Geodis’ strategy to advance innovative, low-impact logistics solutions, particularly within the renewable energy sector.

Geodis will also participate in the commercial development of future contracts related to the Mobile XXL OHME system.
