The Nuclear Engineering Services Ltd site, which is to be built at Beckermet in Cumbria, will include a 32m-high test tower serviced by a 10t capacity crane, and a main workshop equipped with a 60t overhead crane and 6m test pit.
NESL carries out design, manufacture, assembly, project management, installation and commissioning work relating to mechanical and electromechanical handling systems, pressurised systems and high integrity components for nuclear power and process plants. This includes equipment and process development for decommissioning and decontamination.
The site is a replica of NESL’s existing Wolverhampton facility, and will initially be used for testing and commissioning work for major clients. NESL said the facility will also allow it to attract new business in the north-west, as well as expanding its services to Sellafield.
