Chesterfield Crane Company has completed the design, manufacture, and installation of a new overhead crane and gantry system for CRC Evans in the UK.
The project features three 10t single-girder overhead travelling cranes, each with a 30m span and a 7m height of lift.
The cranes operate across a purpose-built, free-standing gantry system that stretches over 116m within CRC Evans’ new facility.
Two of the cranes have been configured to operate in a master/slave tandem lifting arrangement, enabling synchronised and controlled lifting as needed.
The third crane functions independently from the others.
Chesterfield Crane designed and manufactured the entire supporting gantry structure.
The company’s team managed the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and engineering through to installation, testing and final commissioning.
The crane systems supplied for the installation include components from GH Cranes & Components, Chesterfield Crane’s established crane kit partner.
According to Chesterfield Crane, these kits provide a lifting solution tailored to CRC Evans’ operational needs.
Altida, a mobile crane and transport supplier, supported the logistics and installation.
Chesterfield Crane Company operates across several sites in the UK and has more than 200 staff.
The firm manufactures cranes with lifting capacities up to 250t and has been active in the industry for over 30 years.
All equipment supplied by the company is subject to inspection and certification as standard.
Chesterfield Crane additionally acts as the official UK distributor for GH Cranes.
Chesterfield Crane expressed appreciation for CRC Evans’ cooperation and feedback following the completion of the project.
The company said: “A huge thank you to CRC Evans for putting their trust in Chesterfield Cranes and for the fantastic feedback received following completion of the project. It’s always great to hear that a customer is happy with both the finished product and the service provided by our team.
“A huge well done to everyone involved in the design, manufacture, project management and installation of another successful crane & gantry project.”
In December 2025, Chesterfield Crane installed a double-girder overhead crane at AMG Chrome’s facility in Rotherham, England.
