While most of its customers are container terminals, Australian manufacturer Electruck says that its spreaders, slab and coil tongs and special lifting devices can all be just as easily fitted to electric overhead travelling cranes in factory applications.

The company has been manufacturing spreaders for more than 25 years and its range includes fixed length automatic and manual actuated spreaders for special purposes and container handling.

The spreader pictured is connected to the headbeam by a pin connection designed to allow quick removal. This enables other components to be lifted using slings connected directly to the lifting lugs on the headbeam. The headbeam is fitted with a rotating frame which allows the container, or whatever is being lifted, to be rotated up to 270O.

While design and development is centred on its Sydney headquarters, Electruck’s products are primarily manufactured in the Philippines. Electruck Pacific is based in the Subic Bay freeport zone while Electruck Asia is a heavy fabrication plant on a 13ha site in a protected safe harbour in Maraveles in Bataan.
