Indian crane manufacturer Hebenkraft has supplied two electric overhead travelling cranes to a new Indian steel plant in Duburi, about 100km from Bhubaneshwar, the state capital of Orissa.

The cranes, for Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd, are 15t SWL and 38m span, making them among the biggest in India according to Hebenkraft. One has been commissioned, the other is now being commissioned.

The high speed cranes are designed for loading the pig castings from the pig storage yard onto railway wagons with the help of heavy-duty magnets provided with battery back-up systems. Each crane weighs 87t.

Mecon, based in Ranchi, was the approving authority for the design and inspection of these cranes.

Hebenkraft is based at Thane near Mumbai and manufactures winches and grab buckets as well as EOT cranes.
