Towne Lifting and Testing has completed the supply and installation of two jib cranes for an undisclosed client, aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of material handling within the client’s premises.
The installation is intended to provide a practical lifting solution tailored to the client’s operational needs.
The process, from the initial discussions through to installation and commissioning, involved close collaboration between the company and the client.
According to the firm, the approach enabled it to develop a solution that matches the day-to-day requirements of the customer’s operations.
Towne Lifting and Testing sales executive Scarlett Alderson said: “Projects like this are a great reminder that the right lifting equipment isn’t just about moving materials – it’s about making work safer, easier and more efficient for the people using it.”
Towne Lifting and Testing, founded in 1948, operates from locations in Newcastle, Hull, and Stockton.
Founded during the Second World War, the company initially supplied wires to shipping trawlers. It is led by managing director Tom Towne and remains a third-generation family business.
The firm states that it provides lifting equipment and safety systems to both local and international clients, with a focus on ensuring safety and reliability in lifting operations.
Throughout its history, Towne Lifting has maintained an emphasis on supply, installation, and maintenance services related to lifting equipment.
The company reports a longstanding commitment to making clients’ equipment both safe and suitable for use, aiming to minimise operational downtime. In June, Towne Lifting and Testing installed a customised height safety system intended for use beneath a 40t lifting frame.
The system is designed to meet operational requirements in situations where several users need secure access in restricted areas and where accurate load distribution is necessary.
