Street Cranexpress has installed three overhead cranes at a newly developed facility in Sheffield, UK.

The project involved fitting two 3.2t double-girder cranes and one 2t single-girder crane.

Installation work was completed over the course of a week by a team of four engineers, including two responsible for commissioning.

The project began after Street Cranexpress was approached by the principal contractor in charge of the new site’s development.

Initial planning and multiple site inspections were conducted to identify and address potential obstacles.

The installation process took place while the building was still under construction, which reduced some logistical difficulties for the 3.2t units.

However, engineers had to take special care when lifting the cranes into position due to obstructions in the roof structure.

Fitting the 2t single-girder crane presented further challenges, particularly as engineers had to work around a newly installed manufacturing cell on site.

A mobile crane, supplied by PP Engineering, was used to assist the process.

According to Street Cranexpress, detailed planning and close cooperation between its team, subcontractors, and the site principal contractor helped ensure that the installations were completed as intended and without major incident.

Street Cranexpress, established in 1972, provides installation, servicing, maintenance, and inspection of overhead lifting equipment for clients throughout the UK.

The company was originally formed to support its sister company, Street Crane, and has since grown into a national provider of crane services.

Its engineering teams are based across the country, offering both new equipment and refurbishment or modernisation of existing lifting gear.

Street Cranexpress has built its operations on more than 50 years of industry experience, covering on-site analysis and a variety of service packages designed to meet customer requirements.

The recent Sheffield installation is one of several projects the company has completed across the UK, with a presence in site developments as well as ongoing support for operational facilities.

In July 2025, Street Cranexpress and bxh Electrical Wholesale worked together to replace a hoist control panel at a leading steel manufacturing and engineering firm.
