Henan Dafang Heavy Machine (Dafang Crane) has delivered two 5t overhead cranes to a facility in Argentina, overcoming technical and logistical challenges related to limited space, high international shipping costs, and shifting import regulations.
Dafang Crane manufactured both the cranes.
The Argentine company placed the order with the Chinese crane supplier after requiring equipment that could function within a headroom restriction of 1,680mm.
The cranes were also required to be shipped by sea within a defined budget, which made the use of cost-effective 20ft containers essential.
Dafang Crane addressed the headroom challenge by introducing a customised design, segmenting each main girder into four separate sections.
This modular solution enabled the cranes to meet the facility’s height requirements while keeping the shipment within budget by using standard shipping containers.
The segmented approach also responded to the rigid budget for ocean freight, preventing the higher expenses associated with flat-rack containers or bulk carriers, which are typically required for single-piece girders measuring 17.868m.
The project was carried out during a period of major changes to Argentina’s import regulations, which extended permit validity and accelerated approvals.
These regulatory changes were accompanied by tightening foreign exchange controls and repeated delays to payment timelines, according to project details.
The situation required frequent updates to pricing and technical documentation.
Restrictions on international travel prevented the Argentine client from conducting on-site factory inspections in China.
Instead, Dafang Crane offered remote support and virtual audits to build trust, focusing on machining accuracy and confirming the client’s technical specifications.
With shipment and installation now complete, both cranes are operational within the client’s facility.
In July 2025, Dafang Crane supplied three double-girder overhead cranes to a customer in Thailand.
