Lootah Lemmens has recently completed the delivery and installation of a customised overhead crane system in The Hague, the Netherlands. The project was executed for a modern maintenance facility, where precise and reliable lifting operations are essential.
Scope of supply
The system comprises a single-girder overhead travelling crane with a safe working load (SWL) of one-tonne. It is equipped with an electric chain hoist and a motorised trolley, enabling smooth, controlled movement across the full span of the installation.
The crane operates on runway beams integrated into a steel support structure within the facility. The layout incorporates a central maintenance pit with elevated access platforms on both sides, requiring accurate positioning and safe handling of components.
Engineering challenge
A key challenge in this project was the strict limitation in available headroom. Due to surrounding building structures and installation constraints, the hoist was required to operate within a highly restricted vertical space.
To address this, Lootah Lemmens engineered a customised low-headroom solution. The hoist was specifically modified at the company’s manufacturing facility in the UAE to achieve compact dimensions while maintaining full performance and compliance with safety standards.
The entire crane system was engineered, designed and manufactured in the UAE. This highlights Lootah Lemmens’ capability to deliver fully integrated lifting solutions for international projects, ensuring consistent quality from concept through to commissioning.
Installation and application
The crane has been installed in a high-specification indoor maintenance environment designed to support efficient inspection and servicing operations. It enables controlled lifting along the central working area, where precision and reliability are essential.
The installation has been developed with a strong focus on safety, accessibility and ease of operation, incorporating clear walkways, structured access platforms and an ergonomic layout.
Service and maintenance
In addition to supply and installation, Lootah Lemmens has secured a five-year maintenance contract for the project. Maintenance will be carried out by the company’s dedicated in-house service team.
