UK-based industrial equipment supplier Lloyds Beal has completed the relocation of overhead cranes for Halton Systems, ensuring uninterrupted production.

Halton is a family-owned company specialising in indoor air solutions for demanding spaces, particularly in industries like foodservice, healthcare, and marine

The relocation involved transferring the cranes to a new, larger facility just 15 miles away, which is crucial for Halton Systems’ high-specification ventilation systems.

Lloyds Beal executed the project, which required the works to be completed within two coordinated phases, without any production downtime.

It has initially isolated and removed 50% of the existing gantry rails and one overhead crane.

The equipment was then decommissioned, transported, reinstated, and commissioned at the new site before the second crane and remaining infrastructure could be handled.

Lloyds Beal’s team conducted detailed planning, scheduling crane isolations, and mapping every stage of the lift, transport, and reinstallation process, to maintain production continuity.

Phase one involved decommissioning the first crane and gantry section, using a Palfinger lorry loader crane and an in-house abnormal load escort vehicle to manage the task.

Lloyds Beal said the new facility’s layout necessitated the fabrication of two additional support columns to ensure a seamless fit and reinstatement.

After the completion of phase one, the team proceeded to phase two, repeating the process for the second crane and remaining gantry rails, ensuring a complete operational switch.

The final installation saw both cranes relocated, recommissioned, and revitalised with new paint and rebranding to Halton Systems’ livery.

Additional lateral bracing was added for rigidity, and a full LOLER inspection and certification were completed after proof load testing.

The relocation of the crane system allowed Halton Systems to easily transition to their new site, meeting all operational requirements.
