9 May 2024Hoist was excited to attend LogiMAT, a tradeshow for Intralogistics Solutions & Process Management, in Stuttgart, Germany, recently to see what new technologies have come onto the market.
Organisers EUROEXPO Messeund Kongress said LogiMAT 2024 reached new heights this year, with 1,610 exhibitors (+6%), an extra 2,000m² exhibition space and more than 100,000 visitors, including 35% from abroad.
Among those presenting their latest products were; SWF Krantechnik, who premiered its redesigned electric wire rope hoist NOVA2 rope, to be launched later this year. An alternative to conventional steel rope, NOVA2 can be made with synthetic rope Dyneema, which is 90% lighter than steel rope.
Guests were also introduced to SWF Krantechnik’s explosion-proof chain hoist ATHLO Ex Zone 22, designed for load capacities from 160kg to 1,000kg. Other sizes with load capacities of up to 2,500kg will follow. ATHLO chain Ex Zone 22 ensures maximum safety and complies with ATEX directives as well as European specifications and standards. To comply with strict explosion protection regulations, significant changes have been made including sealing due to various environmental conditions; maximum surface temperature of 120 degrees, exclusion of sparks caused by static electricity or other ignition methods. The company also showcased its ATHLO belt and the light crane system ProfileMaster PLUS.
Demag debuted three products at LogiMAT; DHR rope hoist; DC-II chain hoist and Demag KBK Aluline A28. Combining the best of the DMR and DVR rope hoist, the DHR rope hoist range is developed for standard crane applications, characterised by its compact dimensions and improved C-dimension over its predecessor.
Other features include its high performance and load capacity with minimum service requirement. The motor and gearbox are easily accessible and the rope drum bearing does not need to be lubricated. Another highlight is the ability to use synthetic ropes (Dyneema).
The main components of the DCII are that it is maintenance-free for up to 10 years. It has a slipping clutch with automatic cut-off through speed monitoring and 24V contactor control.
The basic DC-Com II variant and highend DC-Pro II variant differ in terms of classification in the FEM/ISO group of mechanisms and their lifting speeds. With the market launch, Demag is offering three sizes (DC-II 1/2, DC-II 5 and DC-II 10) as preassembled chain hoists.
Demag also presented a new profile section for the KBK Aluline light crane system at the show, characterised by its high load capacity and low deadweight.
The KBK A28 profile section enables ergonomic and comfortable handling of even heavy loads.
KULI showcased its standard hoist with 63t capacity @ 4 falls only, which is unique in the market. The hoist has a lifting height of 13,5m and a gage of 3m. The hoisting motor is pole changing with 48/12 kW and the weight of the hoist is 4.900 kg.
In contrast to its largest hoist, it displayed one of its smallest pieces of equipment in its portfolio: a 500kg chain hoist, to highlight its range of standard applications.
The stand also featured a control cabinet to show the KULI smartER technology, which comes with frequency inverter and an energy recuperation system, feeding back the energy into the grid when lowering the load. This not only supports efforts for a green industry by reducing the CO2 footprint but saves a lot of weight on the crane and structure as well.
“All in all, we had a very successful exhibition and our booth was highly frequented as well. With the above exhibits we were able to generate a lot of attention with professionals in the industry,” said Oliver Riese, export manager, KULI.
The next LogiMAT event is LogiMAT China in Shenzhen May 8–10, 2024, LogiMAT Southeast Asia in Bangkok October 16–18, 2024 and LogiMAT India, Mumbai February 13–15, 2025. The next LogiMAT in Stuttgart will take place from March 11–13, 2025.
