Crane overhaul, USA

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)/Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) is a neutron research facility. The research facility is used to perform a broad array of state-of-the-art biology, materials, chemistry, and physics research by measuring the interaction of radiation with various materials to study their structure and properties. Some of the research performed at the NCNR is fundamental in nature, other research is directly applicable to problems of immediate societal interest.

Two cranes are currently installed at the NCNR:

A Kranco C-100 that is a 15 US t polar unit on the first floor. Span: 33’ 3”; Serial Number 1848; and A Kranco C-200 with a 20/2 US t bridge crane on the second floor; Serial Number 1847. These cranes were installed at the NCNR in 1964. While both cranes are fully functional, the C-100 is in need of updating and modernisation.

Work under this acquisition shall provide an overhaul of the C-100 crane. No work shall be performed on the C-200 crane.
