Yuantai Crane has delivered a 5-ton non-standard bridge crane equipped with a 5-ton electric chain hoist to an equipment maintenance workshop in Saudi Arabia.
The crane addresses the client’s need for an overhead crane system capable of operating in a narrow, low-ceiling section of the repair shop, enhancing productivity and safety.
The client, an industrial repair and maintenance company, required a crane to eliminate the reliance on manual rigging and makeshift lifting procedures in the constrained area.
Yuantai’s team conducted a site survey, confirming that the crane span could not exceed three metres, with a lifting height requirement of 4.5m under a five-metre ceiling.
To meet these specifications, the company designed a custom single-girder, low-headroom overhead crane with a 5-ton electric chain hoist.
The crane features a reinforced box girder beam, short end trucks, and a compact hoist arrangement to maximise workspace under the hook.
The low-profile configuration allows the crane to fit under the low roof while achieving the required lifting height.
The crane is designed for indoor use in a dusty repair shop environment.
It is an underhung-type crane, which means the end trucks run on the underside of the building’s overhead rails, eliminating the need for floor support columns.
Building on its design choice, the crane uses the full ceiling height, enhancing clearance and operational efficiency, and its structure is robust, meeting lifting class A4 standards.
Its 3m span beam was strategically placed to allow the hoist to traverse the entire workspace width, and a 5-ton capacity is facilitated by an electric chain hoist.
The crane is equipped with a wireless radio remote pendant, enabling operators to manoeuvre loads safely and conveniently, and a wireless controller for enhanced safety.
The crane also features built-in limit switches and overload protection to lift and move loads horizontally up to three metres in either direction or vertically nearly to the ceiling.
It effectively handles tasks such as positioning machine parts onto worktables and transferring engines between stations within the confined 5×4m zone.
The crane’s compact design allows smooth operation in previously unreachable areas.
The increased lift height eliminates the need for manual lifting aids, and the wireless control ensures worker safety.
The crane’s performance has met the client’s expectations, relieving a major bottleneck and enhancing maintenance cycles and worker safety in the repair shop.
