Vietnam-based crane manufacturer Vinalift has installed two outdoor gantry cranes at a precast yard in Bangkok, Thailand.

The installation includes two 150-ton double-girder gantry cranes with a 40m span and two 25-ton gantry cranes for auxiliary lifting tasks.

The cranes are specifically designed to handle and position precast concrete segments used in bridge construction, requiring both heavy-lifting capability and precise control.

The gantry cranes feature a twin-hook system with 360° rotation, an 18m lifting height, and a 990m travel rail.

They are operated via a cabin and remote system and adhere to the FEM 1.001 standard for cranes and FEM 2m for hoists.

Key components of the cranes include motors from Siemens, gearboxes from Sumitomo, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) from Mitsubishi.

By facilitating faster and safer handling of large concrete moulds, the cranes optimise the segment casting workflow and minimise manpower risks on site.

Vinalift, in a LinkedIn post, said: “These cranes are specifically designed for handling and positioning precast concrete segments, which are used in bridge construction by the segmental method.

“The process demands not only heavy-lifting capacity but also precise control and operational safety.”

Last month, Vinalift shipped five double-girder overhead cranes with lifting capacities between 10 and 40 tons to a steel plant in South America.

The cranes, intended for the metallurgical sector, were transported from Vinalift’s manufacturing site to MIPEC Port for international shipment.

They are designed to meet stringent safety and performance standards and are equipped to operate reliably in challenging environments.
