Vietnam-based lifting equipment provider Vinalift has designed, manufactured, and delivered two explosion-proof JIB cranes for an offshore energy project in East Africa.

The cranes are specifically engineered to meet stringent safety requirements for hazardous zones, classified as Class 1, Zone 2, T3 IIA, making them suitable for flammable gas areas.

The fixed-type JIB cranes are manually operated and can bear a safe working load of three tons, with a reach of five metres and a main beam height of eight metres.

JIB 1 is mounted at +7,100m above mean sea level (MSL), with a lifting range down to a maximum of 5.5m, while JIB 2 is mounted at +6,600m MSL, lifting from 5.5m to 8m.

Slewing capabilities differ between the two cranes, with JIB 1 offering a 315° range, restricted by a mechanical stopper, and JIB 2 providing a 270° range.

The cranes are operated fully manually through a chain block, with no reliance on electrical or hydraulic systems, ensuring reliability in hazardous environments.

Also, they are designed with long-life corrosion protection, adhering to ISO 12944 standards.

The steel structures are coated with a Paint System 1.1, consisting of four industrial-grade layers, achieving a total dry film thickness of 310μm.

The system is engineered for a minimum durability of 15 years in harsh marine conditions, complying with ISO 12944, ISO 8501-1, and ISO 19840 standards.

Vinalift, in a LinkedIn post, said: “As part of a critical offshore energy project in East Africa, VINALIFT has successfully designed, manufactured, and delivered two fixed-type JIB cranes that meet stringent safety requirements for hazardous zones (Class 1, Zone 2, T3 IIA).

“At Vinalift, we continue to support global infrastructure through tailor-made lifting equipment engineered for safety, simplicity, and long-term reliability.”

Recently, Vinalift has installed two outdoor gantry cranes specifically designed to handle and position precast concrete segments at a precast yard in Bangkok, Thailand.

The installation includes two 150-ton double-girder gantry cranes with a 40m span and two 25-ton gantry cranes for auxiliary lifting tasks.

The gantry cranes feature a twin-hook system with 360° rotation, an 18m lifting height, and a 990m travel rail, and the cranes are operated through a cabin and remote system.
