The crane places containers, located in ditches beside the road, onto trucks that carry them to a processing centre.


It is equipped with two electric Eurobloc VT3 cable hoists from Verlinde, each of 12.5t capacity. It is radio-controlled and can move 28m laterally and more than 40m longitudinally.


To avoid the risk of pulling out the electric supply when the trucks pass under (and for visitor safety) no cables were left on the ground; an electric power unit placed directly on the bridge gantry supplies electricity.


Cluma Engineering also provided the container prehensile spreaders.
