UK crane and rigging firms have begun to stock safety equipment for personnel working at height.

The products arrive as the UK finalises new regulations for employees working at height.

Last month the UK’s Lloyds British Testing announced it would distribute products from Portugal’s Ekman Safety.

Certex has announced it is distributing fall arrest products made by UK manufacturer Checkmate. The ‘professional’ range harnesses are claimed to be more comfortable and safer in the event of a fall.

Wire rope manufacturer Lifting Solutions of Barnsley, UK has launched an access equipment rental division. ‘Apart from health and safety issues, the use of access platforms often represents a cost effective, quick solution, saving time and man-hours and on the downtime of essential equipment,’ said managing director Jonathan Moorhouse.

The access division hires self-propelled access platforms, maximum 12m reach for up to two people with equipment, with or without an operator.
