The 120t crane, from overhead crane manufacturer Street Crane, features twin box beam girders with eight-wheel carriages. A heavy duty crab unit based on a twin scrolling open barrel hoist design allows the hook to follow a true vertical lifting path.
Other features on the crane include an audible alarm, flashing amber light, anti-collision system and wireless remote control.
The Street Crane crane will be used by Voith Paper to load and unload vehicles, and position rollers onto a CNC-controlled roll grinder and up-rated IRD balancing machine. It will be supported by a 10t auxiliary hoist to allow precision movement and rotation of loads.
Voith Paper and Street Crane have an established relationship, with Street Crane having supplied Voith Paper with an 80t overhead traveling crane in 1997. “The 80t crane installed by Street Crane in 1997 and serviced by their sister company SCX has given us no trouble whatsoever,” said Steve Walls, Voith Paper’s works manager.
“The relationship has always been good and we are happy to be working with them once again on this major development for our Manchester business.”
