Xyratex, a provider of network data storage systems, required an overhead bridge crane system to transfer products from inspection bays to the packaging and dispatch area.
The sensitive nature of the data storage systems dictated that the lifting equipment deliver smooth, accurate and ergonomically efficient movement of loads of up to 30kg.
The materials handling solution installed uses the Demag KBK monorail system, including 15m downshop rails and a 3.5m KBK crane girder span.
Rated at 80kg SWL, the tracking system has manual push/pull movement in all directions for precision load placement in predetermined positions.
Mounted on the tracking system is an 80kg SWL Demag DC-COM electric chain hoist, with hoisting speeds of 8/2m per minute.
Installation of the system was undertaken by Able Lifting Equipment (Southern) Ltd., who also provided specialist steelwork upon which the bridge crane is mounted.
