The straddle carriers to be refurbished are between 4 and 10 years old, and the refurbishment will see each straddle carrier individually assessed and major repairs identified. These will then be prioritised and carried out according to need. It is expected the equipment will gain five years operating time due to the refurbishment work.
STAM has also ordered 20 Kalmar terminal tractors for the Port of Rades in Tunisia, taking STAM’s Kalmar fleet to 50 terminal tractors and 22 straddle carriers, reachstackers and empty container handlers.
