UK crane builder New-tonne Lifting has signed a deal to be the exclusive distributor of Spanish manufacturer Ausió’s crane kits, end carriages and wire rope hoists in the UK.
The deal is Ausió’s first ever in the UK, though crane builder Jackson Engineering sells Ausió products in Ireland. Managing director Ramon Ausió said that the company is looking for dealers in France, Poland and the Czech Republic. Its only other dealers, worldwide, are in Mexico, Costa Rica and South America.
New-tonne has already taken six orders for cranes, says director Graham Lindley, since the deal began at the beginning of May.
The company previously imported products from Cesam in Turkey.
The distribution deal is just the first step for Lindley. He said he is planning to erect a box beam manufacturing plant at the company’s Merseyside location. “We have planning permission for the buildings,” he said.
Ausió’s Irish partner, Jackson Engineering, is manufacturing some box beams for New-tonne at the moment, but Lindley said that the price of shipping the girders across the Irish Sea is becoming too expensive.
