KCI Konecranes senior chief engineer Ilkka Riikonen is speaking on the likely impact of the new EN 13001-1 crane standards on hoist and crane design and construction.

Demag maintenance project manager Dr. Joachim Biewald is speaking about the emerging international consensus of maintenance, with reference to IEC 60204-32, and how this can be harmonised with European standards based on the Machine Directive.

The session will also feature a panel discussion on overhead crane operator training and certification that is chaired by UK crane builder Morris Material Handling Ltd.

The overhead crane session that takes place during the first afternoon of the two-day conference. Other afternoon sessions cover mobile cranes and tower cranes for construction applications.

On the second afternoon there will be a workshop on optimising overhead crane drive safety run by Schneider Electric, manufacturer of Telemechanique drives.

Confirmed morning speakers include Klaus Meissner, R&D director, Terex-Demag, Bryan Cronie, Mammoet safety director, and Ian Simpson, specialist inspector for the UK’s Health and Safety Executive.
