The complete harbour area has a total area of 13 sq km, and extends from the wet docks at the Ruhr mouth along the Rhine River up to Duisburg-Rheinhausen.

Every crane on site is equipped with a semi-automatic positioning system for both crane and trolley.

Kuenz installed a double-girder container gantry crane in April 2006 before, 11 months later, it delivered another with a similar design for the PKV terminal, operated by DUSS.

The latter unit is equipped with a Kuenz spreader which was especially made for interchangeable truck bodies and designed according to the building codes and standards of the Deutsche Bahn AG (German Federal Railway).

Each crane is equipped with a crane management system developed by Kuenz, offering online support for the crane driver and maintenance staff, and additional practical assistance for preventive maintenance.

Udo Kühl, Duisburger Hafen AG, said: “Kuenz delivers reliable, high-quality container cranes and prevailed against competition with innovative and economical proposals.”

In July 2007, the Rhein-Ruhr-Terminal in the Duisburg Parallelhafen put to work a Kuenz RMG. This trimodal container crane is designed as a single-girder unit with rectangular girder structure, which provides torsional rigidity. The main hoist is constructed to allow for high working speeds, and therefore efficient container handling even in the low water levels of the Rhine River.
