Konecranes to help expand Indian port facilities

A 110.5M berth extension plan for Visakhapatnam Port Trust’s Visakha Container Terminal is expected to include buying two Super Post-Panamax quay cranes and four RTGs from Konecranes.

According to The Hindu, Visakhapatnam Port Trust in South East India is planning to award a USD 110.5M contract for berth extension works before 2013.

Two years of construction work is expected to increase capacity at Visakha Container Terminal's (VCT) berth from 450m to 850m.

When finished, VCT will have four ship-to-shore gantry cranes, one mobile harbour crane, six RTGs and six reach stackers.
