Brazil-based Super Terminais has ordered three additional Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 mobile harbour cranes to boost its operations along the Amazon River.

The order, finalised in the second quarter of this year, is set for delivery in the third quarter of 2026.

It follows Super Terminais’ acquisition of the first three Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 cranes in 2021.

Konecranes’ mobile harbour cranes have shown superior handling performance and reliability over the past four years, fostering trust and prompting this new purchase.

They are designed with a maximum reach of 64m and are capable of handling containers and general cargo on vessels up to the super-post-Panamax class.

Super Terminais director Marcello Di Gregorio said: “The Amazon region is now receiving megaships carrying very heavy loads and the Manaus Free Trade zone economy is growing fast.

“This is why we’ve again chosen these powerful, reliable and eco-efficient machines from Konecranes – doubling our handling capacity while keeping emissions under control and also meeting the demands of our customers.”

The Port of Manaus, where Super Terminais has operated for over 25 years, serves as a crucial gateway to the upper Amazon basin, playing a key role in the trade flows.

The new cranes can connect to an onshore electricity supply, minimising emissions.

Konecranes said the contract aligns with its Ecolifting initiative, which aims to enhance the environmental impact of its products while reducing customers’ carbon footprints.

The company is committed to eco-optimising diesel drives, hybridisation, and fully electrified fleets to achieve more sustainable operations.

Also, it invests in digitalisation and technology to make material flows more efficient, contributing to decarbonisation, circularity, and safety advancements.

Konecranes regional sales manager Alfredo Cañibano Ramos said: “Repeat business is the strongest validation of trust. These cranes are engineered to perform in tough conditions, such as high humidity, extreme heat and on a floating pier.

“We’re proud to support Super Terminais with a solution tailored to their demanding operational needs in the Amazon region.”
