The 125-year-old firm debuted at 3,871, but was also ranked 146th in a list of top privately owned US manufacturers by the magazine’s pollsters.
 
The Inc. 5000 listings have been a popular benchmark of entrepreneurial success amongst US business leaders since the 1980s.
 
President, Mike Murphy, said of the accolade: “Becoming an Inc. 5000 company is a solid indication that our corporate strategy is working.”
 
Over the three-year period for which their finances were examined, J R Clancy maintained an average growth rate of 36%, achieving a $6.5m increase in revenue to $24.2m.
 
Outlining his successful business plan, Murphy explained, “We changed our processes dramatically to do business more effectively.  At the same time, we made it our mission to make our partners successful.
