The AK 4 has six capacities. The first four are two with 630kg capacity at duty of ISO M3/FEM 1Bm and two with 500kg capacity at ISO M5/FEM 2m. One single-speed model has a lifting speed of 6m/min; the double-speed version has a lifting speed of 9 and 2.2 m/min. The last two models have a lifting capacity of 1t at ISO M5/FEM 2M, in single and double-speed versions, but both run at half the speed of the 500kg units.

These models follow the launch of the AK 8 in 2004 and AK 7 and AK 6 in 2005.

“We already have had a lot of success with this model. It is better than before,” managing director Joachim Goelitz told Hoist. “The old one was not that different, the gearbox is the same, but some technical features were not available. The new one does have all the features that the market is asking for.”

Those features, mostly optional extras, include up to eight pre-programmed automatic stop positions, a new anti-cross-linking chain guide, a simple power supply and pendant plug-in connection, frequency inverter control, load measuring device, monitoring of brake lining wear, data recorder, and dust protection to the IP 66 standard.
