Facultatieve Technologies has installed a 20-ton capacity overhead crane at its Leeds manufacturing facility, a significant step in expanding its operational capabilities.
The strategic expansion supports the growth of the company’s Pet Cremation product line, addressing previous limitations in lifting capacity and optimising the manufacturing process.
It follows a restructuring of its factory layout, which was led by the manufacturing team.
The new layout revealed constraints in lifting capacity and floor space, previously limited to 10 tonnes, which caused workflow bottlenecks.
The company collaborated with Commercial Property Repairs and Chesterfield Crane to install the 20-tonne crane.
The crane is equipped with a wireless pendant control and a high-volume audible safety alarm.
The installation is expected to enhance safety and efficiency and prepare the facility for future product development.
To ensure safety during installation, the crane area was cordoned off, with diversions maintaining workflow continuity.
The crane will primarily handle animal incinerators and cremators, reducing manual handling time and increasing shop floor efficiency.
The immediate benefits include increased production capacity and the implementation of a one-piece flow system for the standard cremator range.
The improvements are expected to yield a strong return on investment by increasing throughput and reducing production time, thus meeting growing demand more efficiently.
Building on its expansion, Facultatieve Technologies plans to acquire two Master Movers to further enhance mobility and handling efficiency in the factory’s standard range build section.
The development is part of Facultatieve Technologies’ broader strategy to support growth, improve manufacturing efficiency, and maintain its position in the industry.
