Field ID have signed a contract with US materials handling firm Engineered Systems to provide RFID tags for crane, trolley and hoist components for use with its cloud-based inspection system.

Engineered Systems, originally founded in 1969, says that the new system will provide more accessible and organised data to help customers comply with regulations.

Using RFID technology allows Engineered Systems’ inspectors easy access to information on equipment using a mobile device, significantly speeding up the inspection process.

Data such as the date it was last inspected, certification deadlines and any outstanding work orders for an item’s repair can be accessed quickly by inspectors, but the system also allows easy communication of inspection results to customers through direct access to the cloud-based server.

Engineered Systems’ assistant project manager and head of electronic inspections, Tim Wilson, said: “We’re in an age when this kind of technology is expected by our customers.  Our company is dedicated to customer service excellence, and Field ID helps us deliver.”

Field ID is confident that Engineered Systems will make significant cost savings on their administration processes, which hitherto involved all inspections being recorded manually using pen and paper.
